Re: Fw: ONE OF THE BEST STORIES I'VE EVER HEARD!!!

I could feel a little teardrop coming as I was reading this story but I had to hold it because I am currently at work. I could draw some parallels to this story.

I was in Grade III Blue in Cugman Elementary school. My teacher was Mrs Barbara Landingin. I was the quiet pupil in the back row. I was bad in Arithmetic as I found memorising those time tables boring. Mrs Landingin must have seen something in me and she showed me shapes, circles and triangles, time, travel, speed and distance. These got me interested and thus began my successes in Academics. It is not until in late High School and early College years that I realised my grade III teacher taught me Geometry, Physics and Algebra though she did not called them that.

To Mrs Landingin thanks heaps.

Got this from a very, very good friend of mine. I cried after reading this heartwarming story. Read on . . .

ONE OF THE BEST STORIES I'VE EVER HEARD!!!

As she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of
school, she told the children an untruth. Like most teachers, she looked
at her students and said that she loved them all the same. However, that
was impossible, because there in the front row, slumped in his seat, was
a little boy named Teddy Stoddard.

Mrs. Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed that he did
not play well with the other children, that his clothes were messy and
that he constantly needed a bath. In addition, Teddy could be
unpleasant. It got to the point where Mrs. Thompson would actually take
delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold X's and
then putting a big "F" at the top of his papers.

At the school where Mrs. Thompson taught, she was required to review
each child's past records and she put Teddy's off until last. However,
when she reviewed his file, she was in for a surprise.

Teddy's first grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is a bright child with a
ready laugh. He does his work neatly and has good manners... he is a joy
to be around.."

His second grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is an excellent student, well
liked by his classmates, but he is troubled because his mother has a
terminal illness and life at home must be a struggle."

His third grade teacher wrote, "His mother's death has been hard on
him. He tries to do his best, but his father doesn't show much interest,
and his home life will soon affect him if some steps aren't taken."

Teddy's fourth grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is withdrawn and doesn't
show much interest in school. He doesn't have many friends and he
sometimes sleeps in class.."

By now, Mrs. Thompson realized the problem and she was ashamed of
herself.. She felt even worse when her students brought her Christmas
presents, wrapped in beautiful ribbons and bright paper, except for
Teddy's. His present was clumsily wrapped in the heavy, brown paper that
he got from a grocery bag. Mrs. Thompson took pains to open it in the
middle of the other presents. Some of the children started to laugh when
she found a rhinestone bracelet with some of the stones missing, and a
bottle that was one-quarter full of perfume. But she stifled the
children's laughter when she exclaimed how pretty the bracelet was,
putting it on, and dabbing some of the perfume on her wrist. Teddy
Stoddard stayed after school that day just long enough to say, "Mrs.
Thompson, today you smelled just like my Mom used to."

After the children left, she cried for at least an hour. On that very
day, she quit teaching reading, writing and arithmetic. Instead, she
began to teach children. Mrs. Thompson paid particular attention to
Teddy. As she worked with him, his mind seemed to come alive. The more
she encouraged him, the faster he responded. By the end of the year,
Teddy had become one of the smartest children in the class and, despite
her lie that she would love all the children the same, Teddy became one
of her "teacher's pets.."

A year later, she found a note under her door, from Teddy, telling her
that she was the best teacher he ever had in his whole life.

Six years went by before she got another note from Teddy.. He then
wrote that he had finished high school, third in his class, and she was
still the best teacher he ever had in life.

Four years after that, she got another letter, saying that while things
had been tough at times, he'd stayed in school, had stuck with it, and
would soon graduate from college with the highest of honours. He assured
Mrs. Thompson that she was still the best and favourite teacher he had
ever had in his whole life.

Then four more years passed and yet another letter came. This time he
explained that after he got his bachelor's degree, he decided to go a
little further. The letter explained that she was still the best and
favourite teacher he ever had. But now his name was a little longer....
The letter was signed, Theodore F. Stoddard, MD.

The story does not end there. You see, there was yet another letter
that spring. Teddy said he had met this girl and was going to be
married. He explained that his father had died a couple of years ago and
he was wondering if Mrs. Thompson might agree to sit at the wedding in
the place that was usually reserved for the mother of the groom. Of
course, Mrs. Thompson did. And guess what? She wore that bracelet, the
one with several rhinestones missing. Moreover, she made sure she was
wearing the perfume that Teddy remembered his mother wearing on their
last Christmas together.

They hugged each other, and Dr. Stoddard whispered in Mrs. Thompson's
ear, "Thank you Mrs. Thompson for believing in me. Thank you so much for
making me feel important and showing me that I could make a difference."

Mrs. Thompson, with tears in her eyes, whispered back. She said,
"Teddy, you have it all wrong. You were the one who taught me that I
could make a difference. I didn't know how to teach until I met you."

(For you that don't know, Teddy Stoddard is the Dr. at Iowa Methodist
in Des Moines that has the Stoddard Cancer Wing.)

Warm someone's heart today. . . pass this along. I love this story so
very much, I cry every time I read it. Just try to make a difference in
someone's life today? tomorrow? just "do it".

Second Sunday After Trinity

Text: Deuteronomy 11:18-21, 26-28
Romans 3: 21-25a, 28
Matthew 7: 21-27
Central idea: "Establishing strong faith in Christ!! Despite of trials we encounter."

"Dream, Believe, Survive"
Bro. Jonathan Paulino

Introduction
Sa bawat pagsubok ng panahon laging tatandaan ang buhay ay weather, weather lang! This is a famous and well-known line of words by Kuya Kim, after telling that there is a coming typhoon, approaching typhoon.. After telling the whether condition! The challenge of whether condition affects to the environment where we live that is why whether telecast informing us to prepare ourselves.
Today's Gospel also tells us to prepare and informing us to establish strong foundation, strong faith in Jesus, Christ so that what ever trials we face what ever typhoon we face we can able to survive because were informed, Jesus Christ our Lord informing each of us today to prepare and establish strong foundation through faith in Christ.
Jesus Christ tell a parable about the wise and the fool who build their houses one in the sand with weak foundation and another one is in the rock with strong and fix foundation.
The two examples given were tested only when the typhoon came. These houses were tested how strong they are! The parable is referring upon us! Addressing in our personality, it is all about faith in Jesus Christ. We are an architect of our own faith if where, how and when we should establish it or else in what way we should build it. I know that all of us here have faith! You have faith I have also mine, we have our faith! But the question is how strong this kind of faith is? Our faith is only measured when trials come we are mold from this trials, learn from this trials. And with this, God and you yourself will know how strong we are, because of the big problem we solve and we had a capacity to overcome it.
Gold is one example! Gold is only measures how pure it is when it was melted in the high pressure of heat! It is melted and form to become jewelry again it was done through struggling a long process just to create high quality gold jewelry. In the life of Job he was tested also by time, tested by the circumstances! All things he had his family his wealth are taken by God because God who give is the same God who take. Job while he was hurt the more he put himself in the presence of God, he believes that in this time of trials the more he need God's presence. We should dream like this kind of faith pure as gold and humble heart as Job and believe that in Jesus Christ, believe that in God all trials, circumstances if we have faith in him we are able to survive.
Dream pure faith! Dream strong faith! And believe in God so that whatever trials or typhoon of problems may come to us, we will be able to survive in Jesus name... In God's love.
In our context today, some of us Aglipayan when there is other denomination come and inviting us to join them! We simply don't look at our church! We can't even defend our faith! We do not live out our faith being Aglipayan, being Filipino's why? Because we are shy to say I am Aglipayan! If other people ask our religion why are you Aglipayan! Because I am simply baptize in Aglipayan church, my father, my mother is Aglipayan so therefore I have to become an Aglipayan. This is the reality because we don't even go to the Aglipayan Church but we observed they go to the big churches because there are lots of people there. Why? They are shy to go in our church because our church building is not as big as other denomination, our churches is not good looking as other churches. don't you see brothers and sisters in the Lord even though our churches are very small compare to others but this church was build-up because of our own efforts, our own tears and our own sweat and even our own blood. Why it happens? Brothers and sisters in the Lord I believe that one personality is mold and formed, begins with in every families! Aglipayan community lives according to our faith and belief. Aglipayans should act and live in principles, live in being nationalism and living in moral way according to the will of God. An aglipayan family teaches their children and forms their children to be a better aglipayano to stand firm in his/her faith being Aglipayan. Teach our children how to dream in developing their church and developing their faith and developing their personality! While they are going older, to dream what kind of people they are when they grow and get old! Teach our children and teach also our selves to believe in this church that this church is revealed by God for us Filipino that will lead and guide Filipino people to live out life in accordance to the will of God. Believe in Jesus Christ for he is our Strength that whosoever believes in him should benefit everlasting life. With in Jesus Name whatever trials and circumstances we encounter we believe that we are able to survive. Until day will come that you will become proud of what you are being Aglipayano because you have help to build a church for you being a Filipino. Second example, in our every family! In every relationship now a day when encountering problems or trials it is easy for us to give up… I also observed many of our parents today when they quarrel they simply get drunk! Or else separate and leads to annulment of marriage because of problems we give up our love ones, our family and engage to vices. Such as drinking liquor, drugs, which also lead us to crime? Their reason of doing these is that they forget their problems with that way. They simply act hopeless…of coarse no one of us here would like to suffer and sometimes it leads them to think simply to end their lives. Especially in the new generation.
They live happily ever after…because she believe that there is a God and God set a challenge in life of Marimar, challenge for us to test how strong we are it is not far from our experiences in our every day life. How many Marimar left now in our times? How many strong personality and faith we have left now? Brothers and sisters in the Lord manatili po tayong tapat sa pag ibig at katapatan sa D'yos we should dream a life in Jesus care believe in him that in Jesus no such strong typhoon, no such strong trials can weep you up in Jesus we can able to survive. So that at the end, we can live a life happily ever after.
Brother and sisters in the Lord, as we depart from this place let us always remember dream, believe, and survive.
In the name of the father and of the +son and of the Holy Spirit …………….Amen.

Trinity Sunday

Trinity Sunday Year A
Readings: Genesis 1:2 – 2:3
2 Corinthians 13:5-14
Matthew 28:16-20
Central Idea: God is the foundation of a perfect community.

THREE-IN-ONE
Bro. Jeremiah Fuentes

Today is known to be the Trinity Sunday in which, we are celebrating the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity. In other words, it is in this Sunday that we are commemorating the most essential part of our Christian doctrine – The Doctrine of Trinity. Allow me then to entitle my sermon THREE-IN-ONE. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen!
Our Gospel that we heard while ago is very fitting of what we are celebrating today, because it mainly talks about the great commissioning of the Disciples of Jesus Christ. He commissioned them "to go and make more disciples to all nations and baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you" (vv. 19-20). Jesus makes used of the authority that He receive from the Father, to commission His disciples in building a perfect community where He Himself is the head. Above all, He commanded the disciples to baptize the people using the Trinitarian formula or what we call (In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit) because; He wanted that all people who will become His followers be grounded with the faith, the love and the hope of the Triune God.
What is Triune God by the way? Speaking of Triune God or Holy Trinity it is the doctrine of the Christian Church that speaks about the nature of God were our faith as Christian is being anchored.
This doctrine has been stipulated in the Creed used in the Christian Churches especially our beloved Iglesia Filipina Independiente as we profess and declare our faith. We believe that there are three persons but in one God. This means that we have only one God, who revealed Himself in three distinct natures: Father as the creator, Son as the redeemer and the Holy Spirit as sustainer and giver of life. Let us consider the first revelation of God as Father the creator. The Father is the one who created all things in heaven and earth and of all seen and unseen. In our first reading from the book of Genesis, it is clearly depicted how God created the world, that in the beginning, it was formless and empty and God give life to it. Second, God the Son as redeemer. After the Father created everything, He called the people to be the steward of His creation, yet He saw the wickedness and sinfulness of the people. However, because of His great love to His creation and hoping to maintain the beauty of His creation He incarnated and revealed Himself through Jesus Christ to save the sinfulness of the world through His life, His sufferings, His death, and on His glorious resurrection. Third, God the Holy Spirit, the sustainer of one's life, which means that Holy Spirit is the one who maintain, strengthen, protect and guide our lives. He restores unity of God with His people and promotes new and higher levels of unity between God and the world. This revelation of God creates a perfect relationship of the three persons in the Trinity. Although, it reveals three times in the history, yet, we must understand it as the revelation of the One True God.
My Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, from this simple presentation we also glance the mystery of our God who revealed Himself in three persons. This doest not mean that God the Father is more powerful than God the Son and or God the Son is more powerful than Holy Spirit because primarily they are one, who inherits the same power and authority.
We know that we cannot totally grasp the idea of Trinity because it remains a mystery. If we talk about mystery, it is something that we cannot comprehend using our human knowledge and capacity. If we fathom it, then it is no longer a mystery. As baptized Christians, we are challenge to dig deeper on this mystery so that in somehow we can have the concrete ideas, which surely responses to our doubts and questions with regards on our faith that we believe in.
Even though, trinity is always remain a mystery, yet we are challenge to live out this doctrine in our very own lives so that we can be truly Christ disciples who work in building a perfect community. Perhaps you will ask me on how to do these? Do you want to know? Please listen to me I will tell you how? Well…for us to be part in fulfilling this perfect community we need to have this three letters "DPP". It does not mean Diocesan Programs and Projects but rather it signifies Dependent, Purity and Perseverance.
Let us take first the word Dependent. We all know that God is the ultimate source of our lives. He can see us in everything we do and He knows our daily needs. He knows everything on us even the number of hairs that we have in our head. These are only vivid manifestations that we can do nothing without Him. Moreover, as creation of God, we are relying to His guidance, to His protection and to His many manifold blessings that we can use in our daily existence. Therefore, we should commend our whole life in Him by serving Him wholeheartedly for the rest of our lives. But the question is, are we ready to commend our whole life to the Lord? Are we ready to serve others especially to those who are needy for the sake of the Lord? It is the time to examine ourselves for us to response this call. Second is Purity, which means the wholesomeness of our life before God and of the eyes of the people because God is expecting much of us to posses this nature or attitude, considering that we are His children by virtue of our baptism. We all know that we are already purified through the blood that flowed out from the body of Jesus Christ when He was crucified and died on the cross. Nevertheless, considering that we are only human beings whom prone to commit sin, we need to pray for His guidance so that we will be directed to come into His fold and allowing Him to reign in our lives amidst of being sinful so that we will be purified again and to live according to His will. This is the idea of the second letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians which says "We are glad whenever we are weak but you are strong our prayer is for your perfection." (2 Cor. 13:9). Besides, this text is reminding us to have sincerity and transparency of all our deeds to make us clean and pure before God. We must keep doing good deeds, because this is the best thing, which please, to the Lord. This very moment, God knocks the door of our hearts to enshrine His message for us to response it positively. Third is Perseverance, which also means upholding our whole life in doing our respective obligation to the Lord so that we will live christianly or the righteous way. God mandated us to become obedient in Him and to believe on His Gospel not only in time that we want to, but in all the time until the end of our life. It is in this way that we can show to the Lord that we are worthy enough to become His disciples who are willing to do what He wants us to do even putting ourselves in danger just for doing God's command. In addition, He wanted us all not to be tired in doing our mission He has given us but rather to do it with love, humility and compassion.
These are the things that we should inculcate in our hearts and minds, we need to be dependent to the Lord our God. We need to live life with purity and we need to have perseverance in doing our duties and responsibilities to God, to our fellowmen and to our country for us to become a good disciple, a good follower and a good Christian.
Finally, God calls us to translate our Christian Faith into concrete actions by preaching the Gospel of truth and to participate actively in the whole life and mission of our church. With this, we can truly serve and worship the Triune God and for us to build a perfect community as what we aim for.
May the Triune God will continue to fill us with the grace of His Holy Spirit in order to guide us and bless us in all the way of our lives so that we will be able to continue in working on His vineyard for the fulfillment of His Kingdom.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen!

First Sunday After Trinity

Cycle A, First Sunday after Trinity
Readings: Isaiah 49:8-18
1 Cor. 4:1-5, 8-13
Gospel: Matthew 6:24-34
Central idea: "God's kingship is to free us from worries."

"Do what you can do."
Bro. Julivier Loyao

Why are we always worried? Worry is something that we feel and bothered us and put us into a complicated and doubtful condition. The effect of worries to our own lives if we have it, is like that our life is in the state of negativism and always fearful to what should we do/to do. I tell you one of the greatest things about our Lord Jesus Christ is that he does not want his people to be worried. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit…….Amen………... The main point of today's gospel is that God does not secure his kingship by cultivating worries. His kingship is far from our understanding that when we hear about this position it implies fear and authority. On the contrary, the aim of God's kingship is to free us from any worries. God doesn't need to build worry in us in order to establish his power and superiority. Instead, he exalts his power and superiority by working it to takes away our worries. If you are Christian and truly believers of Christ; if you have turned away from sin and are followed Jesus as Lord in the obedience of faith, God assures us upon this day not to worry about anything, but for us to enjoy in deep calmness, peace and security. Jesus spoke these words in Matt 6:24-34 precisely for us to overcome whatever it is, that make us worry on this day. We need to take this word from the Lord Jesus this day, because it reminds us that his kingship is not to build worry on his people. He ruled us King over us for the purpose, specifically, to take away our worries. In my own perception the chief statement from the Lord is not to be worried and have a great awareness to give us peace. This is enough reason why we don't need to be worry; his words were extremely powerful and full of assurance. So let us focus the rest of our time thinking at some of this reason in Matt 6:24-34 Everybody can see plainly that the main point of this gospel is that the disciple of Jesus should not be worried; in verse 25: "Do not be worried about the food and drink you need in order to stay alive." Verse 31: "Do not be worried saying, 'What shall we eat.' Verse 34: "Do not be worried about tomorrow." The words should keep ringing in our ears when you leave this morning, that is. "Jesus does not want us to be worried." That is just the other way of stating the main point of this passage. Let us make in a positive way found in verse; 33, that is, instead of being worried "Seek first God's Kingdom." In other words do not think about your life needs for food, our clothes at that time, instead make God the king in that affair, and in that moment and surrender the situation to his kingly power and do his righteous will with the confidence that he will work for us and that we will meet all out our needs. To seek the Kingship of God first in every affair and every moment of our life is an exciting way of living. It's full of freedom and peace, joy and adventure and hardship; and it is worth living at all God said "do not worry". If we believe in the kingship of our heavenly Father, we do not need to be worry about anything. In addition, Jesus said to us in verse 26, "Look at the birds: they do not plant seeds, gathered a harvest and put it in barns; yet your Father in heaven takes care of them! Aren't you worth much more that birds?" In short, Jesus doesn't want us to be worry instead to do what we can do and what we fear to do. God want us to use our every strength to move on, and not to stop because of our worries. The gospel reading for this day challenges us to become more aware always for what is happening in our community, to our society's situation. This is what we need the most to take our attention if we felt about worries. Let us look at what happened to our country there are a lot of immoralities and impurities in our government, which shows there is something wrong to our leaders. These situations challenge our every self through this gospel. The worry that we should felt is not the worry in our own selves nor towards the others who need it most. For these people the most important thing is to gain for their own satisfaction. Yet their search to gain betrays them. It reveals their worries about tomorrow, about what to wear, what to buy, how to be successful, how to become rich and powerful. When we worry a lot we are prone of sinning. In their pitching race for more, they have closed their hearts. Believing, that only more possessions can satisfy their desire/thirst in power and position. In doing this they have dismissed God, who would fill their desire. Let us pray for them. Isn't it encouraging realizing that it was Jesus who said we should live for today and "stop worrying about tomorrow"? In short he was saying "Do what you/we can do". Why we always think of what our own needs or self needs? But this is not what our Lord's say's. Look at our brethren who were outcry for justice, suffered for the oppression because of the greediness of some people in power. These are the things the we must have to worry. Those things that happened to our country/society today is the things that we must be worried for because it destroys us, our future and to our future generation. Prayer, works and recreation have long been recognize as the three essential ingredients for our life. We're expected to neither overdo nor under do any of the three-but which ever we are doing at the time, it's should have of our full attention. What this message meant to us? Ayon pa nga sa kasabihan "Nasa Dios ang awa at nasa Tao ang gawa", kaya ang gusto nang Panginoon ay ito magdasal ka at gawin mo kong ano ang nararapat at sang-ayon sa gusto ng Panginoong Dios. Ano ba tong sinasabi na gusto nang Panginoong Dios sa atin sabi n'ya, wag kang mabahala sa yong bukas at "Gawin mo kung ano ang gusto mo." The main point of all this, is clear and definite: Jesus does not want his followers to worry. He does not secure his kingdom by keeping his creation in the state of worry. On the contrary, according to verse 33, the more primary, and the central on his kingship is in our lives, for us to have the less worry we will have. Jesus came, lived, died, and rose from the dead, in order that to reign as King over worry and free us from worries. Finally let come, follow and surrender to Jesus as our king. Forsake all other allegiances. Take your vow of loyalty to the King of kings. And seek God first in all you do to make known his kingship over our life. This and this alone is the way to liberate us from worries. Amen. Amen. Amen.. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
