Be in the hands of God
Good morning my dear brethren in Christ! Before I will give my short reflection let me ask some pointed questions. First what is prayer for us? And what is the importance of prayer in our lives? Of course when we talk the word prayer we have different ideas of what is prayer all about. Last night while I'm listening music in the refectory I was reading a certain book from the library, and in the book I found a certain definition of what is prayer. According to the book, prayer is a direct line to heaven and it is communication processes that allow us to talk to God.
This morning our gospel presents us a prayer of Jesus Christ to his disciples. And this morning also our gospel calls and invites us to be a truthful and prayerful as Christians and as the followers of Jesus Christ. As what Jesus Christ did in our gospel when he pray he prayed for his disciples through asking His father that the disciples be united in harmony and love as the Father, son, and Holy Spirit. And most important that they be kept from the contamination by the world. But the questions for us do we pray to God? Do we live out our prayers? And what kind of prayer that we ask to God? Is it for the benefits of all the people around you or around us? Or is it a personal interest prayer?
The answer lies in our hands. My dear brothers and sisters in Christ!
We know the very fact that in our situation in our country today there are lots of immoral acts in our society. Killings, persecution and corruption in our government which is needs our participation through our prayers. But sad to say that some of us now does not give importance of prayers in their lives. We say we have a hard time finding time to pray. We need our sleep in the morning so we can function during the day. We are busy in family activities after our work. We stay up late because we need to finish our work for the next day. We want to pray, we say, but we don't have time. Sometimes we always thinking that we need first to work for the future of my children, or we need to work so that we can survive our lives despite of crisis in our country today. Sometimes even to ask Jesus forgiveness or else to thank him for he died on the cross in order to save us from the sins. Hindi natin magawa! Because we believe in our selves that we can do everything without prayer. I love to share you the story of a young man who met Christ after many years of his life in the world. After his conversion he went to his first prayer meeting. Everyone was getting up and uttering their flowery prayers. Finally, this new convert stood to pray and said, "Lord, this is Mel. I'm not sure whether you remember me or not . . . I met you last Tuesday night. I just wanted to say . . . well . . . Thank-you for changing my life." And then he sat down. The simplicity and honesty that prayer brought tears to the eyes of many. But for me I suspect that it brought a smile to the face of the Father, as well.
Para masabi natin sa ating sarili na we are willing to communicate and to obey his well!
In fact in out second reading from the book of Acts chapter one verse 14 prove us how really important the prayers in our lives. When the disciples turned back to Jerusalem from the mount olive they all met together continually for prayers along with Mary the mother of Jesus and the brothers of Jesus. For the purpose that the power of the Holy Spirit and the guidance of the holy will empower them. And my dear brothers and
Sisters in Christ this passage prove us that prayer is very important in our lives being a Christians. And we should pray so that the power of the Holy Spirit empowers us and
through this we will be guided in our task moreover in our daily works. Furthermore we are also reminded that throughout our prayers Jesus had not gone forever and he was with us and would continue to be with us all the times even to an end of the earth.
The secret of our success for all of us is to remember that we are not alone but we are the guidance and love of our God almighty. And through or prayers God promises is his holy spirit all that we have to do is like the disciples wait and prayed. And the most important our success is not achieved through our greater efforts, but through our greater trust in God. However, the problem is how we can say that we have trust in God? I have a song that can show and prove us that we must trust to God. And the title of this song is "My life is in you, Lord" the first part paragraph of this song is this: my life is in you lord, my
Strength is in you Lord, my hope is in you Lord, in you, and it's in you. My dear brothers and sisters in Christ! My life is in you Lord, my strength is in you Lord, my hope is in you Lord, and it's in you.
Meaning to say that our lives is not our's but it is gift from God. Moreover, our all strength, hope, success and all things that we have or comes in our lives is from God
all this thing is given by God to us. That is why we have to surrender our lives to Him as we trust him because he is only know of what we have supposed to do. And in the second part of the song is this: I will praise you with all my life, I will praise with all my
strength, and I will praise with all my hope. Meaning to say we have to praise God after we receive something from him. Even in our difficulty, in our problem, trials and suffering we have to thanks God yet in spite of it, He is always in our side. We know with the confidence that God can hear us when we pray, pray, knowing that no matter how far in our room, our connection with him can never Lost.
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ this Sunday our challenge is how we express and live out our great faith and love to our God. We are also challenge our God to communicate with Him. Like a person to person call phone. We know that cell phones
and other devices had be come a necessity to us in today's society. We have blue tubes, blackberries, and talking computers. These are means of communication that allow two or more people interact, discuss and respond each other. The same with our God wish for our communication with Him. And this communication fulfill through our heartily prayer. And most important we pray with our faith because it is impossible to please God with out our faith.
IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, THE SON, AND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AMEN!
